Laser Eyebrow Removal – What You Need to Know, Aftercare & When Can You Redo Your Brows?
Have you had eyebrow embroidery, microblading, or eyebrow tattooing in the past, but the colour is now too dark, has changed over time, or the shape no longer suits you? Or perhaps you simply want to start fresh with a softer and more natural-looking brow design.
Laser Eyebrow Removal is a method used to fade or remove unwanted pigment from previous eyebrow treatments. It can also be an important step before creating a new brow design, especially if you are considering Realistic Nano Hairstrokes.
However, laser removal does not always require just one session. The amount and type of old pigment, previous brow treatments, your skin's response, and proper aftercare can all affect the removal process.
Here are some important things you should know before and after Laser Eyebrow Removal.
What Is Laser Eyebrow Removal?
Laser Brow Removal uses laser energy to target pigment particles that have been deposited into the skin during previous eyebrow tattoo or embroidery treatments.
The laser breaks the pigment into smaller particles, which are then gradually processed by the body over time.
This is why your old brow pigment may not disappear immediately after a laser session. The colour may continue to change and gradually fade during the following weeks.

When Should You Consider Laser Eyebrow Removal?
You may consider Eyebrow Tattoo Removal if:
Your previous eyebrow tattoo is too dark
Your brow colour has turned red, orange, grey, or another unwanted shade
Your old brow shape no longer suits your face
Your eyebrows are uneven or asymmetrical
There is too much old pigment for new Nano Hairstrokes to appear naturally
You would like to change your eyebrow shape
You want to replace an old brow tattoo with a softer, more natural-looking design
It is important to understand that not every client needs to remove 100% of the old pigment.
If your goal is to create a new set of brows, sometimes the old pigment only needs to be lightened enough for your Brow Artist to create a new design successfully.
How Many Laser Sessions Will I Need?
There is no fixed number of sessions that applies to everyone.
The number of Laser Eyebrow Removal sessions required can depend on several factors:
1. How dark the old pigment isBrows with heavy or multiple layers of pigment may take longer to fade.
2. The type and colour of the pigmentDifferent pigment colours and compositions may respond differently to laser treatment.
3. The depth of the pigmentPigment placed deeper into the skin may require additional sessions to fade.
4. Your previous brow treatment historyIf your eyebrows have been tattooed, touched up, or corrected several times over the years, there may be multiple layers of pigment in the skin.
5. Your body's responseEveryone's body processes fragmented pigment differently, so fading speed can vary from person to person.
For this reason, having your brows assessed before beginning treatment can help determine a more suitable removal plan.
What Can You Expect After Laser Eyebrow Removal?
Immediately after treatment, the brow area may temporarily experience:
Redness
Mild swelling
Warmth or sensitivity
Dryness
Light peeling or scabbing
Temporary changes in the appearance of the pigment
The reaction can vary depending on your skin, the pigment, the type of laser used, and the treatment settings.
It is important not to judge the final result immediately after your laser session. Your skin needs time to recover, and the pigment may continue to change and fade over the following weeks.

Laser Eyebrow Removal Aftercare
Proper aftercare is an important part of the Laser Eyebrow Removal process.
1. Keep the Brow Area Clean
During the first 24–48 hours, follow the specific aftercare instructions provided by your laser practitioner.
Avoid rubbing, scratching, or putting unnecessary pressure on the treated area.
2. Do Not Pick or Peel the Scabs
If your brows begin to peel or develop small scabs, allow them to fall off naturally.
Picking or peeling the skin too early can damage the healing area and may increase the risk of pigmentation changes or scarring.
3. Avoid Makeup on the Treated Area
Avoid applying eyebrow pencils, brow powder, foundation, or other makeup products directly onto skin that is still healing.
Wait until the skin has recovered and follow your practitioner's recommendations.
4. Avoid Activities That May Irritate the Skin
During the initial healing period, it is generally advisable to avoid:
Swimming pools
Saunas and steam rooms
Very hot showers
Activities that cause excessive sweating
Strong facial treatments around the brow area
AHA/BHA, retinoids, or exfoliating products on the healing skin
5. Protect Your Brows From Sun Exposure
Skin can be more sensitive to UV exposure after laser treatment.
Avoid unnecessary direct sun exposure while the area is healing. Once the skin has recovered sufficiently for skincare products, protect the area and use appropriate sunscreen according to your practitioner's advice.
6. Do Not Redo Your Brows Before the Skin Has Healed
This is one of the most important points.
Even when the surface of your skin appears normal, the tissue underneath may still be recovering from the laser treatment.
How Long After Laser Eyebrow Removal Can You Redo Your Brows?
This is one of the most common questions we receive.
You should not immediately perform a new eyebrow embroidery or PMU treatment after laser removal.
The appropriate waiting time depends on how your skin heals, the type of laser treatment performed, your skin's reaction, and whether additional laser sessions are still required.
In many cases, practitioners prefer the treated area to be fully healed for several weeks before considering new PMU. A waiting period of approximately 6–8 weeks or longer may be considered between procedures, but this is not a fixed rule for everyone.
You should wait longer if the brow area still has:
Redness
Sensitivity
Peeling
Scabbing
Itching or irritation
Pigmentation changes
Skin that has not completely returned to its normal condition
If you have undergone several laser removal sessions, the waiting period before new PMU should generally be considered from your final laser session.
Your skin should be properly assessed before proceeding with a new eyebrow treatment.
Why Shouldn't You Redo Your Brows Too Soon After Laser?
Performing PMU on skin that has not completely recovered may cause additional trauma and can make pigment retention less predictable.
Healthy and stable skin gives your Brow Artist a better foundation to:
Create a new brow shape
Control pigment implantation more effectively
Create cleaner and more natural-looking Nano Hairstrokes
Support a smoother healing process
Achieve more even pigment results
Therefore, do not rush into getting new brows simply because the old pigment appears lighter. The condition of your skin should always come first.
Do You Need to Remove 100% of the Old Pigment Before Nano Hairstrokes?
Not necessarily.
The important question is whether the remaining pigment will interfere with your new brow design.
For Realistic Nano Hairstrokes, a cleaner and lighter background generally allows individual hairstrokes to appear more visible, soft, and natural.
If the old pigment is still very dark or saturated, new Nano Hairstrokes may blend into the existing background, making it difficult to achieve a realistic hair-like effect.
A Brow Artist should therefore assess your existing brows before deciding whether you should:
Continue laser removal → Allow the skin to heal → Or proceed with a new brow design.
